Qatar Charity (QC), in co-operation with Talabat, has distributed 3,600 food parcels to workers and families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in Ain Khalid, Al Muntazah and Al Wakrah.
Mohamed Rashid al-Kaabi, assistant CEO for the Communication and Development Sector, thanked Talabat for supporting Qatar Charity’s humanitarian projects, emphasising the importance of building partnerships with relevant commercial institutions within the framework of their corporate social responsibility, especially in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Francisco De Sousa, managing director of Talabat, said the company is always proud to work hand-in-hand with QC, adding the Talabat initiative is in line with the efforts of Qatar to encourage people to stay at home during this coronavirus pandemic period.
During the holy month of Ramadan, Talabat announced that QR1 would be donated from every purchase of groceries through its app to Qatar Charity. The initiative will allow Qatar’s residents and citizens to make a difference in the lives of people who need it the most, but from a safe distance.
Last year, QC signed a co-operation and partnership agreement with Talabat to sell virtual meals through the latter’s website, in support of the charitable projects and relief activities implemented by Qatar Charity.
Under the deal, the two parties have agreed to add Qatar Charity to the list of restaurants available on Talabat’s website, as a virtual charitable restaurant that will sell three virtual meals at QR20, QR50 and QR100, respectively.
They have also agreed to transfer donations, collected as part of the purchase of the virtual meals through Talabat’s website, to QC’s bank account at the beginning of each month.
