It’s time to reveal something I’ve been working on for a very long time. For years and years I have continued to share my strong passion for healthy, organic vegan food. I’ve designed my whole life around the concept of veganism, and I’ve developed businesses to provide communities with access to plant-based goodness. Almost 5 years ago, I co-founded Qatar’s first and only completely plant-based café, Evergreen Organics. One hundred percent vegan, with authenticity at its core.
Well today, it gives me a great pleasure to reveal the opening of the world’s first 100% vegan café at a major hub airport. Yes, Evergreen Organics has arrived and is ready for your departure at the state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport.
The opening of our airport café takes us back to our roots, and the values of how we founded Evergreen Organics here in Qatar. Back then we wanted to enable people to have access to fresh, delicious, and nutritious food in a natural setting (with plenty of jungle vibes), and to build and grow our country’s conscious community.
Now, it’s time to enable that access to vegan food to a new demographic of people: international travellers, both for transit, and for departure from Doha.
For years, one of my main concerns when travelling abroad was the lack of healthy vegan food, especially when travelling. The very idea of being able to find vegan food in an airport would be something I’d day dream about while waiting for a flight. I’ve spent almost over half-a-decade packing quality vegan foods into various containers or tubs, packages or bottles before flying, only to face the next challenge of trying to get it all through the various security checkpoints of the airport. I’ve had more jars of cashew nut butter confiscated than I can count. Air travel and healthy vegan food just did not coexist, anywhere in the world…until now.
With the opening of Evergreen Organics at a gateway airport at the centre of the world here in the Middle East, I can’t wait to provide travellers from all backgrounds passing through Doha with a unique vegan experience with quality, fresh vegan food.
It’s now estimated there are around 1 billion vegans worldwide, and I can’t wait to build a strong community of plant-based eating travellers at our airport location. Many passing through HIA have long transit times where they’ll be able to enjoy the serenity of our natural, green environment that feels a world away from the hustle-and-bustle of an airport. Other travellers may want an energy boost cold-pressed juice before their next flight, or a quick grab-and-go breakfast that’s full of plant-based vitamins and minerals and made fresh right here in Qatar. So whether you’re flying from New York to Bali and want to drink coconut water from a whole fresh coconut before you’ve even arrived, or you’re on a business trip from Australia to Europe with a desire to sample quality vegan food from a Qatari company founded on the values of healthy eating: we’ve arrived, and we’re ready for your departure.
I’ve written extensively about how it’s never been a more important time to eat healthy vegan food amidst the Covid pandemic— and now, with air travel demand starting to increase, travellers at the best airport in the Middle East are able to do this too, as we embark on a new chapter, together.
