The Embassy of the State of Qatar to Mexico organised a webinar on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Mexico, with the participation of prominent personalities.
Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs Martha Delgado, President of the Foreign Affairs Asia – Pacific – Africa Commission at the Mexican Senate, Senator Cora Pinedo, president Mexico-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Group Deputy Sergio Perez, president of the Arab chamber of industry and commerce Jamila Touma, ambassador of Qatar to Mexico Mohamed Jassem al-Kuwari, and Mexican ambassador to Qatar Graciela Gomez Garcia participated in the webinar.
In a speech on behalf of the Mexican foreign minister, the Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs hailed the close relations between Qatar and Mexico, which have witnessed development in recent years in several areas, especially in confronting the Covid-19 crisis.
He thanked Qatar for its support to Mexico in facing this crisis.
Martha Delgado said that Qatar is Mexico’s strategic partner in multilateral affairs and international politics, and she spoke about Qatar’s foreign policy by supporting countries to face the Covid-19 pandemic.
Qatar’s ambassador to Mexico stressed the importance of diplomatic representation between the two countries in expanding co-operation, pointing to co-operation in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
He referred to Qatar’s contribution of USD200,000 to support Mexico in purchasing equipment for the medical staff in appreciation of its efforts in confronting the Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the Mexican ambassador to Qatar focused on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, which witnessed significant co-operation in the areas of trade, international representation, and investments.
President of the Foreign Affairs Asia – Pacific – Africa Commission at the Mexican Senate pointed out that the Mexican Senate works closely to support bilateral relations through dialogue and the activation of agreements.
President Mexico-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Group stressed the importance of trade exchange between the two countries, stressing that it’s witnessing great development, especially in the field of Mexican exports to the Qatari market such as agricultural food and other products.
President of the Arab chamber of industry and commerce said that the trade exchange between Qatar and Mexico exceeded USD134mn in 2019, according to official figures from the Mexican Ministry of Economy.
