Al Shaqab Racing fielded two runners in the Prix de l’Afac at Dax, France, late Wednesday evening — Barada Al Cham and Shadad. It was a successful outing as the duo finished first and fourth respectively in the seven-furlong conditions race for four-year-old and older Purebred Arabians.
Ridden quietly by Julien Auge, in the final turn the colt, owned by Al Shaqab Racing and Nada Mousalli, came around the outside to come up towards the inside rail.
It was a hard fought race, with Barada Al Cham winning out by a short head for trainer Thomas Fourcy. His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani’s homebred Mountasir was the runner-up under Jerome Cabre, making it a one-two for Fourcy.
The Al Nujaifi Racing Ltd-owned and D. Watrigant-trained Nenawa was a further neck behind in third under Ioritz Mendizabal.
This was the first win for Barada Al Cham, who was bred by Hassan and Nada Moussalli, and Faiz Al Eweet.
