The Centre for Geographic Information Systems (CGIS) at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) installed 11,253 address plates across all municipalities in the country in June.
These included 9,063 plates for apartments, 2,165 for main buildings and 25 for residential complexes, the MME said in a statement.
The plates for main buildings included 336 in Doha Municipality besides 403 in Al Rayyan, 391 in Al Khor and Al Thakhira, 319 in Al Sheehaniya, 234 in Al Wakra, 176 in Al Shamal, 164 in Al Daayen and 142 in Umm Slal.
In general, the monthly rate of issuing and installing address plates across various categories is around 11,000 a month, with a total of some 230,000 plates being installed in the country so far.
The MME stressed that it is keen to expedite the necessary procedures for issuing address plates by using the data of buildings that have got building completion certificates. This is obtained through the direct link of the building permits system link.
Applications for an address plate can be submitted at the MME communication centre. The address will be issued within two days of receiving the application, with the procedure requiring a field survey of the location.
Accordingly, the newly issued addresses will be included in the National Address database, which is updated every week. The address plate will be installed within two to three weeks of issuing the address.
