The Ministry of Public Health Tuesday announced 283 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, 275 recoveries and two deaths during the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 167 and total number of recoveries to 1,06,603 in Qatar. The Ministry said the two deceased patients were aged 23 and 67 respectively and were receiving the necessary medical care.
All new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status, MoPH added.

The Ministry pointed out that the measures to tackle Covid-19 in Qatar have succeeded as is evident from the clear and consistent downward trend of graph of the daily reported cases and the decreasing number of hospital admissions.
The proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases has enabled Qatar to identify the high number of positive cases in the community, MoPH added, stressing that Qatar has one of the lowest CovidD-19 death rates in the world. The low death rate is because of the very high quality of care provided thorough the public healthcare sector, Qatar's young population,  proactive testing to identify cases early and the expanded hospital capacity, especially the intensive care facilities, the Ministry said.
The Ministry also warned that, even though the restrictions are being lifted and the number of cases are declining, these do not mean that the Covid-19 pandemic is finished in Qatar. Unless all the precautionary measures are continue to be followed, the country may experience a second wave of the virus and a surge in numbers as it is happening in some other countries across the world, the Ministry said.
Therefore, while the Covid-19 restrictions are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following the precautionary measures like avoiding close contact with others, not going to crowded places, not getting confined in closed spaces with others, adhering always to physical distancing, wearing face masks and washing hands regularly. It is also of utmost importance that the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions are protected, the Ministry added.
The Ministry also urged that anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the designated health centers- at Muaither, Rawdat Al Khali, Umm Slal, or at Al Gharafa - to undergo the necessary checks. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
MoPH also recommended visiting its website regularly for regular updates and new information on Covid-19.
