The Elderly Daycare Unit is open from 7am to 10pm every day at Rumailah Hospital.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) reminded the public of this through a notification on social media on Sunday. The unit is for people above the age of 60 years with medical problems that are not life-threatening but need urgent medical attention.

Rapid assessment and management are done by the specialist geriatric multidisciplinary team in a less busy and age-friendly setting.

The unit can be contacted at 33253128 or 55193240 to arrange an appointment.

"For any life-threatening conditions, chest pain, suspected stroke or difficulty breathing, please dial 999 or visit your nearest Emergency Department," the notification said. "If you have health-related questions regarding Covid-19, please call the Covid-19 helpline (16000) or visit www.moph.gov.qa."

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) had last month announced the expansion of health services for the elderly to deliver comprehensive care for those who are over 60 years by providing them with services throughout the day.

"The HMC provides, through the Department of Geriatrics, daycare services to the elderly from 7am to 10pm in an effort to reduce crowding, which might happen if the service is limited to one period, in addition to working to accommodate a large number of patients throughout the day," Gulf Times had reported citing a Qatar News Agency report.

The Department of Geriatrics at HMC has called on elderly patients to take advantage of the services provided in the daycare unit by coming to the unit during the above mentioned time period.
