The Cabinet's regular meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, Wednesday reaffirmed Qatar's solidarity with Lebanon in facing the repercussions and mitigating the effects of the explosion that occurred in Beirut port last week.
HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi, issued a statement saying the Cabinet affirmed that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani's directives to help the people of Lebanon immediately after the explosion and the subsequent broad public interaction to contribute to providing aid to the counrty reflect the depth of the firm fraternal relations between the two countries and the two peoples. These gestures are an extension of Qatar's positions in support of Lebanon and its stability.
The cabinet expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the explosion and to the government and people of Lebanon, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
Wednesday's cabinet meeting was briefed by HE the Minister of Public Health on the latest developments of efforts to curb coronavirus (Covid-19). The cabinet affirmed the continuation of work with the precautionary measures taken to combat the pandemic.
The cabinet also considered the following topics:
*Approval of the cabinet's draft decision to amend some provisions of Decision No 33 of 2017 setting up a committee to resolve administrative disputes arising from the application of the provisions of the law regulating Tenders and Auctions and its Executive Regulation as well as the rules and procedures to be followed before it.
*Approval of the Minister of Public Health's draft decision to issue the executive regulations for Law No 3 of 2016 on regulating the registration of births and deaths.
The draft included provisions related to births, deaths, those who were not registered in the records, the persons responsible for reporting births or deaths inside and outside the country and the documents necessary for registration.
*The Cabinet reviewed a draft Amiri decision to organise the Development Planning and Statistics Authority and took the appropriate decision in this regard.
