The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Friday announced 251 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 301 recoveries from the disease in Qatar during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in Qatar to 1,11,258.
The Ministry said also in a statement that all the new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status.

?On the current status of Covid-19 spread in Qatar, MoPH said measures to tackle the pandemic have succeeded as is evident from the reduced number of daily cases weekly hospital admissions. It is the proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases has enabled Qatar to identify a high number of positive cases in the community, the Ministry added.
The Ministry also pointed out that Qatar has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world which is because of a host of reasons like very high quality of care provided through the public healthcare sector for Covid-19 patients, Qatar's mostly young population, the proactive testing to identify cases early, the expanding of hospital capacity, especially the intensive care facilities, to ensure all patients receive the medical care they need and the special care taken to protect the elderly and those with chronic diseases.
The Ministry also warned that, even though the Covid-19 restrictions are being lifted, and numbers of cases are declining, that never mean that the pandemic is ended in Qatar. It should be remembered that people are still being admitted to hospitals with moderate to severe Covid-19 symptoms, MoPH reminded.
MoPh also warned that, unless all precautionary measures are followed, the country may experience a second wave of the virus and see numbers surging as it is happening in many countries across the world.
The Ministry said, while the restrictions of Covid-19 are gradually being lifted, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures like adhering to physical distancing, avoiding close contact with others, not going to crowded places, not getting into confined closed spaces where other people congregate, wearing face masks, washing hands regularly and most importantly protecting the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions.
Those spending time at home with elderly family members or those with chronic diseases, should wash their hands regularly, wear a mask and maintain social and physical distancing, Ministry stressed.
The MoPH also said that those suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the designated health centers- at Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal, or at Al Gharafa- to undergo the necessary checks. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it, MoPH said.
The Ministry also advised visiting its website regularly for updates and new information on Covid-19.
