Ooredoo is the official sponsor of the upcoming Ooredoo Space Triathlon, a virtual sporting event organised by Trails Sport Events.

The Ooredoo Space Triathlon will feature a series of contests aimed at triathletes and budding triathletes and athletes of all ages and abilities, according to a statement.

The event is set to be held from September 24 - 26, with registration open from September 1-24.

The Triathlon will include a 500m swim, a 20km cycle and a 5k run, while the Duathlon comprises a 5km run, a 20km cycle and a 2.5km run.

The Young Duathlon for younger athletes features a 2km run, a 5km cycle and a 1km run, and there will also be a 1km run for the smallest participants.

Participants can enter in two categories; the Free category includes a race bib, a listing on the leaderboard and a certificate of completion, while the chargeable Space Swag category includes these three elements plus a medal, a sports buff, a sports towel and a race bag.

Sabah Rabiah al-Kuwari, director PR at Ooredoo, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be sponsoring this awesome event, especially since the past few months have been tough for all of us with lockdown and limitations on sporting events. We’re committed to supporting events that promote a healthy, active lifestyle as part of our corporate social responsibility strategy and in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development goals, and we look forward to an enjoyable event – albeit virtual - that will encourage Doha’s citizens and residents to get back to being active.”
