The excellent services at the new fish market at Umm Slal Central Market, which was partially opened recently and awaiting a full opening soon, has won the praise and appreciation of both customers and salesmen.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the new fish market building includes 62 shops, a hall for fish cleaning, toilets and other services such as a sophisticated cooling and ventilation system and adequate number of parking lots that can accommodate a large number of vehicles.

The various fish shops at the market are distributed in a way that allows a good distance between each other with stainless steel seats for waiting customers, storeroom, washing basins and adequate sanitary drainage system.

The market has gates dedicated to loading and unloading fish cargoes in addition to the gates dedicated for the exit and entry of the customers.

The highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness have been applied in the market. All the necessary preventive and precautionary measures to fight any potential spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) are in place with a thermal camera installed at the entrance to avoid the entry of any person with fever, in addition to the other applicable measures. Veterinarians supervise the work and ensure the quality of the fish on display as well.

Saeed al-Harassy, a customer, expressed his appreciation of the new market stressing that it is sophisticated, well-equipped convenient and comfortable for both sellers and customers. Shopping is enjoyable due to the ample space and excellent cleaning services.

Ali al-Kuwari, another customer, said the partial opening of the fish market have made customers excited about the upcoming full opening as it would give them more buying options due to expected competition between larger numbers of sellers.

Mohamed Nassar, a seller, said that the market is a big relief for the sellers and traders as well.
