Situated in the heart of the futuristic Lusail City is #Qatar2022’s biggest tournament venue! the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy tweeted on Friday.

The 80,000-seat Lusail Stadium will embody Qatar's ambition and its passion for sharing Arab culture with the world. It is here that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final will be staged, with billions around the globe watching on.

The design of this magnificent stadium is inspired by the interplay of light and shadow that characterises the fanar lantern. Its shape and facade echo the intricate decorative motifs on bowls, vessels and other art pieces found across the Arab and Islamic world during the rise of civilisation in the region.

The venue will become the centrepiece of Lusail – a newly built, state-of-the-art metropolis, located 15km north of central Doha.

The Lusail Stadium will be transformed into a community space after 2022, including schools, shops, cafes, sporting facilities and health clinics.
