Meta announced default end-to-end encryption for its Messenger, where all messages in conversations and calls between users will be encrypted, and no third party can access their content.Head of Messenger Loredana Crisan said that engineers, cryptographers, designers, policy experts and product managers have worked tirelessly to rebuild Messenger features from the ground up.According to the company, the end-to-end encryption feature will not affect the rest of the other advantages available in Messenger. However, it may take some time for all Messenger conversations to turn into virtual encryption.More so, Meta announced the separation of Messenger conversations from Instagram, as well as the discontinuation of SMS support in Android, and the shutdown of the Messenger Light app that millions of users rely on.The end-to-end encryption feature of the Messenger application has been available as an optional feature for years, before becoming the default standard from now on.
