Mowasalat (Karwa) has announced that 14 routes will be added to its network of city buses from today. These routes are Nos. 10, 22, 31, 34, 40, 41, 76, 129, 156, 156A, 300, 301, 304 and 747, according to a notification posted by the transport company on social media yesterday.
Timings and schedules are available on the Karwa Bus application and website. Public bus services resumed on September 1, at 30% of their capacity, with the start of Phase 4 of the gradual lifting of Covid-19 restrictions.
Mowasalat initially resumed the operation of buses on 22 routes: 11, 12, 20, 21, 32, 33, 33A, 43, 55, 56, 57, 101, 102, 102X, 104, 104A, 109, 119, 727, 737, 170 and 757.
In a notification last week, Mowasalat said it was withdrawing services on three of its bus routes -- 101, 102 and 102X -- on Fridays.
“For our passengers’ health and safety, routes 101 (Al Ruwais), 102 and 102X (Al Khor) will be withdrawn on Fridays effective from 18th September until further notice,” Mowasalat tweeted. These routes will still be available during the rest of the week, it added.
Besides city buses, the company also resumed the services of a number of metrolink feeder bus routes on September 1. The metrolink buses connect Doha Metro stations with surrounding areas.
Mowasalat also operates a large fleet of school buses in the country. With the addition of 14 routes today, Mowasalat will now operate a total of 36 city bus services -- 33 of which will be available seven days a week and three on six days a week.
Mowasalat had earlier stressed that it had implemented the necessary preventive and precautionary measures in line with the directives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications on resuming public bus services in Phase 4 to fight the spread of Covid-19 and ensure the safe transportation for passengers.
