QM organizes exhibition of traditional agricultural artifacts, tools at Expo '23

Qatar Museums (QM) organized an exhibition of traditional agricultural relics, methods and tools, at Expo 2023 Doha.Open though March, the exhibition will be shedding light on the era that preceded the discovery of oil and the use of technological means, the most prominent agricultural activities centered around the palm tree, and the archaeological evidence that was discovered in the Al Zubarah area, which revealed the presence of at least 50 presses, where products such as dried dates and molasses, were made, in addition to three date presses dug into the beach rocks, which were found near Zekreet Fort, and were used to extract molasses from the dates. The exhibition also includes posters and information that reflect the historical importance of agriculture, its tools and methods. Director of the Department of Antiquities at QM Faisal Abdullah al-Nuaimi, explained that ancient antiquities related to agriculture help in understanding old Qatari history, noting that the most prominent ancient tools on display are jars that were used to extract date molasses, and mowers, which are tools that were used in traditional agriculture.
