The Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) has appointed former Sindh governor Mohamed Zubair as the spokesperson of party supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.
The PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb announced this yesterday. She said Zubair has been appointed as a spokesperson on Sharif’s instructions. She further said that a spokespersons’ committee would also be formed under the guidance of the party’s primary spokesperson and central information secretary.
Dr Mussadiq Malik, Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, Talal Chaudhry, Uzma Bukhari and Ataullah Tarar will be part of the committee.
The former governor’s appointment comes after Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DGISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar revealed that Zubair twice met the army chief in August and then in September. He said the meeting was held at Zubair’s request.
In the meetings Zubair talked about Sharif and Maryam, the DG ISPR added.
Later, the former governor also confirmed his meetings saying that he had gone to discuss economic issues. “Of course, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, all came under discussion. No relief was ever requested,” he tweeted.
