Qatar Foundation (QF) has brought the Swiss International School of Qatar and Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire under the umbrella of its Pre-University Education ( PUE), it was announced on Wednesday.
The two institutions will join the existing portfolio of schools at QF which cater to children aged six months through to high school, within an ecosystem that, for the past 25 years, has been committed to providing tailored learning experiences that nurture creative, innovative thinkers, change-makers, and future leaders.
With more than 7,000 students already enroled in schools under PUE, the Swiss International School of Qatar (SISQ) and Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire are set to add nearly 2,500 new students.
HE Dr Ali al-Marri, Attorney General of Qatar and chairperson of the SISQ and Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire, said, “I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, chairperson of Qatar Foundation, for her tremendous efforts at a local and global level to support education and provide everyone with the opportunity to obtain the best form of learning – in particular, those in most need of such opportunities around the world.”
“I would also like to thank HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, vice chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, for this distinguished effort in the education sector, which has helped many people find unique opportunities.”
“Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire, which was established in 2007, aims to strengthen the links between Qatar and France through language, education, and culture, by providing classes in Arabic, French, and English – based on the principle of two civilisations and three languages."
Buthaina Ali al-Nuaimi, president of PUE said, “In the year that marks the 25th anniversary of Qatar Foundation, we are delighted that our ecosystem of pre-university education – which started with a single school – continues to expand in both size and scope, through this agreement with the Swiss International School of Qatar and Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire.
“These two schools perfectly align with the educational ethos of Qatar Foundation, not only in terms of their academic offering, but also their principles, beliefs, and values. They share our commitment to Leading Learning, and to providing personalized learning experiences that nurture the whole child, equipping them to expand their horizons and fulfil their potential.”
“Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire has the honour and the privilege of signing, at the start of the 2020-21 academic school year, a partnership with Qatar Foundation, and, in doing so, becoming the first French-speaking school to join the organisation,” said Serge Tillman, director general, Lycée Franco-Qatarien Voltaire.
The SISQ opened its doors in January 2017, and through the International Baccalaureate system, offers the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme, and the Diploma Programme.
"We are delighted at the opportunity to be working alongside Qatar Foundation, the leading educational provider in Qatar,” said Dr Nancy Le Nezet, head of school, SISQ. “We look forward to a close relationship and are grateful to have access to such wonderful resources and expertise.”
