Qatar Chamber will continue to provide substantial online training courses to stakeholders in the private sector post Covid-19, the chamber’s director general, Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi, has said.
Al-Sharqi said the initiative is part of the chamber’s strategy to develop the skills of members of the private sector, as well as to introduce a wide range of training courses every year for workers in Qatar.
Similarly, al-Sharqi said Qatar Chamber strongly believes that trained and qualified human resources “will enable the private sector to play its anticipated role in the State’s comprehensive development.”
To meet these objectives, al-Sharqi said Qatar Chamber enhanced its Development Department and commissioned several highly-experienced centres to provide training courses in different sectors and areas.
Before launching a specific course, al-Sharqi said the chamber conducts surveys and studies on the needs of the labour sector to determine which training courses are necessary to harness the skills of employees, and enable them to keep pace with developments in the local and international labour market.
Prior to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, al-Shaqi said the chamber already had in the pipeline plans to conduct remote training courses using video conference technology.
During the pandemic, the chamber was able to launch a series of online training courses, which recorded a large turnout from members of the private sector and other interested individuals, al-Sharqi noted.
“About seven online courses were held from the beginning of the pandemic to date.
In this context, Qatar Chamber has developed an integrated infrastructure to continue providing online courses even after the crisis,” al-Sharqi stated in the latest edition of Al Moltaqa, the chamber’s monthly economic magazine.
To further provide online training programmes, al-Sharqi said the chamber recently signed a co-operation agreement with a “specialised training academy that owns one of the largest electronic training platforms in the Arabic language in the region.
He said the agreement aims to develop the skills of employees in both the public and private sectors. Al-Sharqi noted that a series of specialised online training programmes will be offered in many areas, including administrative, financial, and technical fields.
“These steps will certainly help in achieving the chamber’s main objective of supporting and developing the private sector to meet the needs and requirements of the local market,” al-Sharqi said.
