Qatar Charity (QC) has launched 'Tamken', an integrated training programme offered remotely via its social media accounts, to enhance the economic, social and psychological skills of individuals, under the auspices of Etlaqq Business Management and Bedaya Centre.
The programme targets male and female individuals with ideas and small projects, those in need of training to enter the market, and persons with special needs, in addition to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and those willing to have a project that ensures a steady source of income for a more stable life, QC has said in a statement.
Jassim Mohamed al-Emadi, director of the Local Development Department at Qatar Charity, said: “We, through the community programmes, aim to hone the capabilities and energies of people to make them self-reliant in order to support the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations."
He added that the 'Tamken' programme aims to enable people to have opportunities that assure them of a stable life at all levels, noting that it is a multi-disciplinary project aimed at honing the necessary practical skills. He also indicated that the programme will include people with special needs in the next stage, in co-operation with the authorities concerned and community partners.
He said Qatar Charity is keen to engage government and private sectors in economic empowerment projects in support of the community, as it aims to contribute to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030, especially with regard to economic development.
On the sidelines of the press conference, Dr Latifa al-Darwish, CEO and co-founder of Etlaqq Business Management, said: “The ‘Tamken’ programme is a series of workshops that will contribute to transforming ideas of individuals into successful commercial projects that will add economic value to society.”
She also noted that the workshops would cover the field of marketing, visual identity and project management, based on the model adopted in Qatar.
“We will work to help individuals who have ideas to introduce their products to the market and develop their projects,” said Abdullah al-Saeed, a member of the board of directors and officer-in-charge of Bedaya Centre. “We are targeting nearly 30 people to participate in the first phase of the programme.”
He also noted that in case of further demand for the programme, other workshops would be organised in co-operation with Qatar Charity in the future.
