The Ministry of Municipality and Environment's Fisheries Department, in co-operation with the Department of Protection and Wildlife, has released 64,000 baby sea bream fish in two batches. While one batch of 43,000 baby fish, each weighing between 4-14gm, were released at Lusail Area the other batch of 21,000 fish, with an average weight of 15-20gm per fish, were released at Al Thakhira. Until now, a total of 236,000 baby sea bream have been released into Qatari waters.
The operation is part of the plan of the Aquatic Research Center to breed fish and release them into the local sea to enhance the fish stock of the country. The sites where the fish were released are considered a safe and suitable environment for their growth.
