Arab League to hold emergency meeting on ICJ ruling Sunday
Arab parliament body calls on the international community to build on the important verdict

Arab League has decided to convene an extraordinary session at the level of permanent delegates Sunday to issue a unified Arab position regarding the provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) with respect to the lawsuit lodged by South Africa on the commission of genocide by the Israeli occupation in Gaza Strip.Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) Saturday, Assistant Secretary-General at the Arab League Ambassador Hossam Zaki highlighted that the meeting will be held at the headquarters of the Arab League in response to a bid submitted by the State of Palestine on the convention of this extraordinary session considering the ruling issued by ICJ on Friday.Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the Arab League Ambassador Muhannad al-Aklouk said that the State of Palestine requested this convention in coordination with Morocco in its capacity as president of the 160th session of the Arab League at the ministerial level and support the member states of Arab League.The Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments has welcomed the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding Israeli occupation's commission of genocide against the Palestinian People, a QNA report from Kuwait said.In a statement, the association said that the ruling was a victory for the rule of international law and international humanitarian law, and an important turning point in the pursuit of justice for the Palestinian people.The statement called on the international community to build on this important step, bear legal, moral and humanitarian responsibility, move immediately to a ceasefire, demand the immediate implementation of the court's ruling, and work to establish the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
