The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Sudan Red Crescent Society (SRCS) signed an agreement to implement multi-sector response project for recovery from the effects of floods.
The signing of the agreement was attended by member of the Sudanese Sovereign Council and chairman of the Supreme Committee for Health Emergencies Prof
Siddiq Tawer, acting charge d'affairs of Qatar's embassy in Sudan Talal Farhan Al Anzi, secretary-general of QRCS Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi and secretary-general of SRCS Dr Afaf Ahmed Yahya.
Meanwhile, a plane carrying medical equipment and items provided by the QRCS arrived at Khartoum Airport yesterday to help confront the second wave of coronavirus and respond to the relief of Ethiopian refugees in Sudan.
Prof Tawer said Qatar's position and support were a model for partnership that other countries should follow, stressing that Qatar has always been supporting and providing humanitarian and relief aid to Sudan, especially during floods and the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic, which helped those affected by these disasters.
While expressing her happiness at the support provided by Qatar through the QRCS, Yahya said this position is not strange for Qataris and that they have been supporting Sudan.
Al-Hammadi affirmed that Qatar stands with Sudan, and said that QRCS has been providing Sudan with assistance and services in the fields of education, health, water and other fields that included many states.
