HE Sheikh Saud bin Ali al-Thani, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, has said that Doha’s 2030 Asian Games bid file was prepared according to the highest standards and reflects the glorious civilisation of the region.
Sheikh Saud was speaking in the Omani capital Muscat on Sunday, three days ahead of the decision on the venue which will be announced at the Olympic Council of Asia’s General Assembly on Wednesday.
A high profile Qatari delegation comprising sports administrators and former and current athletes are in Muscat as part of the Doha 2030 Bid Committee’s final preparations to present its case to the OCA.
The Doha 2030 majlis in Muscat dedicated to reviewing the details of the bid file will open on Monday at 3pm at the JW Marriott Hotel in Muscat, the venue of the 39th General Assembly of the OCA.
Speaking ahead of the opening of the Doha 2030 team’s majlis in Muscat, Sheikh Saud said Qatar’s tremendous experience of hosting top-class international sporting events will stand its bid in good stead.
“Qatar is about to host the most prominent football tournament, the FIFA World Cup, in two years’ time and over the past it has organised several international sporting events,” he said.
Sheikh Saud, one of Qatar’s most experienced sports administrators, added that Doha’s bid would get good support from Asian member states of the OCA.
“Our bid file was overseen by a number of renowned experts who worked hard to integrate all requirements within the file in order to meet all responsibilities that come with being host of a major international sporting event,” said Sheikh Saud.
He stressed that the availability of major sports facilities and the integration of infrastructure in Qatar will enhance Qatar’s chances of winning the right to host this great Asian festival of sports.
“We all have confidence in the members of the Olympic Council of Asia to nominate the best and most important file,” he said.

“However, the government of Qatar has worked to reduce these negative effects. It was able to control the situation, which contributed to the gradual and smooth return to normal life.”
Sheikh Saud concluded his remarks by extending his thanks and appreciation to the Sultanate of Oman for the warm reception and hospitality the Qatari delegation received in Muscat.
