Heavy snowfall in upper parts of Hazara division and Shangla blocked roads, including the Karakoram Highway, it was learnt yesterday.
While the upper reaches of Mansehra, Torghar, Upper and Lower Kohistan, and Kolai-Palas districts received snowfall, rain continued to lash the plains throughout Saturday, starting on Friday evening.
The Karakoram Highway was blocked in Sharkool and Chaterplan areas for over two hours after snowfall made the
strategically-important artery slippery.
The Kaghan, Siren and Konsh valleys in Mansehra district and Kandia and Spat valleys in Upper Kohistan received snowfall, blocking many link roads.
The road linking the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road with the Shogran tourist hub was also blocked because of snowfall.
The snowfall and landslides blocked the Jabori-Nawaz Abad Road in Siren valley.
Meanwhile, heavy snowfall blanketed the upper parts of Shangla district, while rain lashed the plains on Saturday.
The new spell of snowfall starting on Friday night continued on Saturday, covering the Shangla Top, Yakhtangay, Ajmeer, Kapar Banda, Bahadar Sar, Pir Abad, Jaba, Lilonai, Kandaw and other areas with white sheet.
Heavy snowfall blocked the main Yakhtangay-Puran Road, and link roads in Kandaw and Martung Chakesar areas, causing problems to the commuters.
Bisham, Alpuri, Puran, Chakesar, Shahpur, Karora and other areas received rain.
Power supply to several areas also remained suspended.
