Bangladesh Badminton Society, Qatar (BBSQ) recently organised a badminton tournament as part of the celebrations of Qatar National Day (QND) and Glorious Victory Day of Bangladesh. 
Ambassador of Bangladesh Md Jashim Uddin was present as the chief guest at the final match and prize giving ceremony held at Al Sadd Sports Club.
Following the Covid-19 safety protocols, a total of 150 players in six categories, participated in the tournament this year. At the award ceremony, the ambassador extended greetings and congratulations to the brotherly people of Qatar on the occasion of QND. 
Appreciating Qatar’s role in the world arena, the ambassador wished Qatar all successes in hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the Asian Games 2030.
He emphasised that the Bangladesh embassy and the Bangladesh community would always be ready to extend any co-operation to the Qatar government in hosting the big sports event in 2022. He called upon the Bangladesh community members to do regular sports activities alongside their work and follow the rules and regulations of Qatar.
On the eve of the Glorious Victory Day, ambassador Jashim Uddin highlighted the role of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in achieving the independence of Bangladesh. 
He called upon the expatriate Bangladeshis to actively participate in the various development activities of the government of Bangladesh to build a knowledge-based developed country by 2041.
Besides the embassy officials, Anwar Hossain Akon, Bangladesh Community Qatar president; Omar Farooq Chowdhury, freedom fighter; Alamgir Hossain Ali, president of BBSQ; Jalal Ahmed and Abdul Matin Patwari, sports patrons and businessmen; and Asfaquddin Mamun and Aminul Islam, sports organisers; were also present on the occasion.
