Karwan-e-Urdu Qatar last week organised a literary discourse on Doha-based poet Ateeq Anzar's second anthology (collection of poetries), titled "Duusra Jism".
Anzar is the founder president of Karwan-e-Urdu Qatar and a well-known poet in Doha’s literary circle. The programme was presided over by Azim Abbas, chairman of Karwan-e-Urdu, while Hasan Abdul Karim Chogle, chairman of Anjuman Muhibban-e-Urdu Hind Qatar, and Mohamed Atiq, chairman of Majlis-e-Farogh-e-Urdu, graced the occasion as the chief guest and the guest of honour respectively.
The programme began with the recitation of Holy Qur’an by Mohamed Farooq Asami Nadwi. After that Shahid Khan, general secretary of Karwan-e-Urdu Qatar, Syed Shakeel Ahmed, Aziz Nabil and Dr Ata-ur-Rahman Siddiqui presented their papers on the life and various aspects of Anzar's literary journey particularly in the context of his newly-released anthology.
Syed Rafi-ud-Din Umri, public relation secretary of Karwan-e-Urdu, Qatar, presented a shawl to Ateeq Anzar as a token of respect. Shahid Khan also presented a bouquet to Anzar. Muzaffar Nayabb recited a well written poem in praise of the work and poetry of Anzar.
The event also saw the inauguration of the web page of Scholar Publishing House through a screen projector.
Later, a poetry session was also organised in the evening, where several Doha-based poets such as Tahir Jamil, Maqsood Anwar Maqsood, Ashfaq Deshmukh, Rashid Alam Rashid, Syed Shakeel Ahmed, Qaiser Masood, Asif Shafi, Yusuf Kamal, and Ateeq Anzar recited their works, getting applause from the audience.
After the end of the poetry session, the guests expressed their views on the life and literary achievements of Anzar. They also applauded Shahid's initiative for providing a well-organised digital library to researchers and book lovers. Shahid Khan, the host of the event, thanked the gathering for making the event a grand success.
