Al Wakra Municipality's Health Control Section carried out 1,107 field inspection tours on food outlets and facilities in December last year, issuing 27 violation reports according to law no 8 for 1990 on human food control.
Besides, the section received eight related complaints, which were handled immediately. Two food samples were sent to the central labs. Four violation reports were referred to the security department concerned to take the necessary procedures according to the law.
The veterinarian team supervised the slaughtering of 22,921 heads of sheep, goats, camels and cows at the automated slaughterhouse at Al Wakra. A total of 777 carcasses were destroyed fully, in addition to 9,928kg of meat, for being unsuitable for human consumption.
The veterinarians also examined 679 tonnes of fish at Al Wakra Fish Market, and destroyed 320kg for being unfit for human consumption. The director of Al Wakra Municipality issued administrative decisions to shut two restaurants there for violating law no 8 for 1990 on human food control.
