* MoCI carries out inspection campaign in co-operation with MoI and MME

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), has conducted an inspection campaign on street vendors in Al Mukaynis.
The inspection was carried out to monitor the extent to which suppliers (street vendors) adhere to regulations stipulated in Law No 5 of 2015 on Commercial, Industrial and Similar Public Shops, and Street Vendors, as well as their commitment to Ministerial Resolution No 243 of 2016 on the licensing requirements to engage in street vendor activities, the MoCI said in a statement yesterday.
The inspection campaign forms part of the ministry’s efforts to monitor the degree of compliance with laws and regulations governing commercial activities in a bid to uncover and crack down on violations, the statement notes.
As a result of the inspection campaign, three violations were recorded against several street vendors for practising without a commercial license. The violators were referred to the authorities for the necessary legal action to be taken against them.
The MoCI stressed that it would not tolerate any negligence in terms of adhering to regulations stipulated in Law No 5 of 2015 on Commercial, Industrial and Similar Public Shops, and Street Vendors, as well as incompliance with Ministerial Resolution No 243 of 2016 on the licensing requirements to engage in street vendor activities.
The ministry further stated that it would intensify its inspection campaign to crack down on such practices. Any party that violates laws and ministerial decisions will be referred to the relevant authorities who would take appropriate measures against them to protect consumer rights.
The MoCI has urged all citizens and residents to report any violations relating to registration and commercial licensing through the call centre: 16001; email: [email protected]; Twitter @MOCIQATAR; and Instagram MOCIQATAR.
