Qatar University (QU) and Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for co-operation.
The areas for collaboration are research, training and education; data and information exchange, encouraging the use of facilities available with both parties and the exchange of experiences that enhances scientific and research co-operation.
The MoU was signed by Dr Hassan Rashid al-Derham, president of QU and Sultan bin Rashid al-Khater, undersecretary at MoCI.
The agreement also includes co-ordination and joint co-operation in organising seminars and training workshops targeting the Qatari community, implementing joint programmes in preparing studies and research, marketing the services of the two parties, working on developing entrepreneurship and cooperating in other possible areas of mutual interest on both sides.
Commenting on this agreement, Dr al-Derham stressed on QU's interest in entrepreneurship, supporting emerging companies, increasing students' interest in this area and cooperating with the ministry on all issues that support the development and strengthening of joint work between these two institutions and the development of joint initiatives to serve Qatari community.
Dr al-Derham said that the support and motivation received from the ministry has contributed to the development of the student’s capacity and thanked the ministry while mentioning several opportunities which have given a positive impact on Qatari economy.
Al-Khater said that the signing of the agreement is part of the efforts of the ministry and its constant effort to strengthen cooperation with various educational institutions and bodies in the country as part of their community responsibility.
He noted that under the MoU the cooperation between the parties in various relevant areas would be strengthened, the exchange of experiences and information would be strengthened and the various sources available to both sides would be optimised and utilised to serve the business environment and the Qatari community.
