His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met Tuesday at the Amiri Diwan with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco, who called on His Highness the Amir to greet him during his visit to the country.
His Highness the Amir congratulated Pacheco on assuming the presidency of the IPU for the current session, wishing him success. The IPU president expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir for Qatar's efforts in supporting and enhancing the joint inter-parliamentary cooperation, while congratulating him on the announcement of holding the Shura Council elections in October 2021.The meeting reviewed aspects of co-operation between Qatar and the Inter-Parliamentary Union and means of enhancing them. HE the Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud was also present on the occasion.
