A delegation from Ooredoo recently visited Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), including Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Thani, deputy group chief executive officer and CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, and Yousuf Abdullah al-Kubaisi, chief operating officer at Ooredoo Qatar.
The delegation was received by QCS chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jabor al-Thani. The delegation toured different sections of QCS as well as the Ooredoo Cancer Awareness Centre, reviewing its role in raising awareness of the disease through a range of programmes targeting all community groups. They also praised the efforts of QCS in promoting the culture of early detection and raising health awareness, as well as supporting people living with cancer.
Sheikh Dr Khalid appreciated the delegation’s visit which will have a positive impact on the awareness activities of QCS and the Ooredoo Cancer Awareness Centre. He presented the programme of QCS and Ooredoo Cancer Awareness Centre to the delegation and highlighted their role in spreading awareness in the community as well as professional development and scientific research in the field of cancer, and support empowerment and advocacy for people living with the disease.
He also praised the active role of Ooredoo in supporting social responsibility programmes, especially in the health sector by supporting the establishment Ooredoo Cancer Awareness Centre which provides training programmes with international standards, as it is a first of its kind in the Middle East for training and education about cancer.
“We at Ooredoo are keen to support the local community by various ways and support individuals to maintain their health by adopting healthy lifestyle and early detection of disease, so, our cooperation with QCS and establishment of Ooredoo Cancer Awareness Centre comes to achieve these goals,” Sheikh Mohamed added.
