* People over 60 will be allowed into library only if at least one week has passed since they took their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine

Qatar National Library (QNL) has announced that it will be closed on Fridays and Saturdays due to the increase in Covid-19 cases. Visits to the library will continue by appointment only. "We are also limiting the capacity of each time slot," QNL said in a post on Twitter yesterday.
To book a visit/request a book, one has to visit https://registration.qnl.qa/booking-service#no-back
According to details available on the registration page, visitors will be allowed into the building only if they fulfill the following conditions:
* Have a confirmation of their slot booking through the form given on the page.
* Are between ages 13 and 60. People over the age of 60 will be allowed into the library only if at least one week has passed since they took their second dose of the vaccine.
* Have a green status on the Ehteraz app.
* Have a body temperature of no more than 37.8C.
* Have a face mask or shield.
Only 200 people will be allowed in the building during each time slot (8am to 10am, 10.30am to 2.30pm, and 3.30pm to 8pm)), Sunday to Thursday.
"Please follow the social distancing rules everywhere in the library and stand only on designated stickers whenever queuing," the page states. "Social gatherings of more than 10 people are strictly restricted in the library and will be monitored by our security."
All reading carrels may be used on a first-come, first-use basis, with only one user inside each carrel.
To borrow books, people need to request them in advance at least two working days before the time slot they booked for their library visit. "You will need your Library ID to self-checkout these books."
The Heritage Library is reopening and the Heritage Reading Room is also available to users for selected heritage and reference materials (requests are processed on a case by case basis). Heritage Library materials are accessible primarily by requesting a digital copy via this email ([email protected]). "If the requested item has not yet been digitised, we will let you know when it is available."
Academic or professional researchers are required to complete a form (http://www.qnl.qa/en/forms/contact-form/3281) to schedule a virtual or in-person research consultation. "A subject specialist librarian will contact you to set up the appointment."
Public group tours are now available, including the Heritage Library Exhibition Area. One needs to register for a tour at https://events.qnl.qa/tours/EN and also book a visit (choose 'Meet in the Library') to be allowed into the building.
The Children's Library and Young Adults' Area will remain closed until further notice.
For their safety, pregnant women are not allowed into QNL during this phase of reopening.
"If you want to use the Innovation Stations, please send a booking request by email to ([email protected]). A member of our staff will get back to you on your request and the date and time," the page adds.
