Dukhan Bank has announced the launch of Dukhan Pay (D-Pay), its contactless payment platform, to meet customers’ increasing demand for digital banking products and services.

Additionally, the bank has released wristbands that will facilitate payment under the D-Pay payment platform.

The new-generation wristbands let customers enjoy the convenience of quick and easy payment using the D-Pay platform without having to carry their wallets, credit cards, debit cards or smartphones, enhancing customer experience at the checkout, the bank has said in a statement.

On the launch of the wearables, Dukhan Bank commented: “The Dukhan Bank wristbands are entering the market at a time when there is an increased demand for safe, contactless payment. In addition to being safe, the wearables facilitate fast and easy transactions using blended technology that is both secure and fashionable.

“The initiative falls under D-Pay, a key cornerstone in Dukhan Bank’s digital transformation that seeks to absorb the latest technologies and online banking solutions to make banking simple, safe and convenient for our customers.”

The Dukhan Bank wearables are available in three colours. The wearable smart band is fitted with a chip and makes use of NFC technology to facilitate contactless payments.

Contactless payment with the Dukhan Bank wristband can be used at any point of sale terminal that displays the contactless symbol. For contactless payment, customers can pay up to QR1,500 per day.

Customers can benefit from worldwide acceptance of the new technology at millions of merchants. This is available at points of sale across fast-food restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacies and petrol stations, the statement notes.

As a digital-forward bank, Dukhan Bank’s "efforts remain focused on leading massive transformation across its operations and scaling digitisation of its services. Leveraging digital processes and facilitating pioneering technologies follow in the bank’s promise to offer a secure, simplified and seamless banking experience to its customers as it seeks to emerge as ‘Qatar’s Bank of Choice’", the statement adds.

The new services are within Dukhan Bank’s "commitment to implement its vision and strategy trailing a digital transformation of banking services, products and transactions". The bank seeks to facilitate seamless payment and save customers’ time and effort.

Moreover, the bank is trying to make its services available 24/7 and allow customers to conduct transactions wherever they are, without the need to visit branches.

Earlier, Dukhan bank had launched contactless credit and debit cards, in addition to contactless cash withdrawal from its ATMs.
