Qatar Charity (QC), with the support from benefactors in Qatar, distributed food aid to 2,000 needy families in Kosovo to help them meet their essential needs during winter in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The aid came as part of QC’s "Warmth and Peace" campaign, in co-operation and co-ordination with many municipalities in Kosovo.

The assistance included 2,000 baskets of basic foodstuffs, in addition to blankets.
The distribution took place in the municipalities of Fushë Kosova, Skenderaj, Skenderaj, Podujeva, and Mitrovic.
Taking all necessary precautions for public safety, the food baskets were delivered to the beneficiaries' homes, to prevent any gathering and infection.
Kosovo's Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Bashkim Krasniqi, who participated in the aid distribution, thanked the donors in Qatar for helping the families most in need withstand tough conditions caused by Covid-19 and the severe cold.
Shaaban Huma, a beneficiary of the food aid and a breadwinner for a family-of-three, who lost his job due to the coronavirus, said the assistance was a big support to him in light of these problematic circumstances.
Yatun Yurdoshi, another beneficiary, was very delighted with the food aid, which provided him and his family warmth during the harsh winter, noting that they need more aid.
QC's projects for Kosovo cover different segments of society, benefiting orphans, people with special needs and low-income families.
The number of those sponsored by QC has reached nearly 3,350.
In the field of education and training, more than 5,000 people have benefited from the Qatar Training Center, which was established and is run by QC.
More than 500 income-generating projects, as well as over 1,000 water and sanitation projects, have been implemented, while a housing complex has been built at an estimated cost of QR12mn.
The complex includes 40 homes for the poor, a clinic, a community centre and a school, in addition to shops and a mosque.
Qatar Charity urges benefactors in Qatar, both citizens and residents, to support its "Warmth and Peace” campaign, as the coronavirus pandemic has escalated the suffering of the vulnerable during this winter.
Donations can be made through QC’s collection points and branches, calling 44667711 or requesting a ‘home collector’, in addition to vising QC’s website or app.
