Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani has inaugurated three new factories that are subsidiaries of the National Paints Factories Company, situated in the country’s Small & Medium Enterprises Zone.
The three factories are National Paints Factories Company’s new branches for manufacturing industrial paints – the Royal Cans Factories Company and the Overseas Intermediate Chemicals Factory.
Held in adherence with Covid-19 precautionary measures, the inauguration ceremony was attended by Qatari Businessmen Association chairman HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani; Ministry of Commerce and Industry assistant undersecretary for Industry Affairs Mohamed Hassan al-Maliki, and National Paints Factories Company director general Saleh bin Ahmed al-Khulaifi, in addition to a number of officials, businessmen, and senior managers of consulting companies, contracting companies, and national factories.
After the opening ceremony, Sheikh Khalifa and the attendees toured the new branch of the National Paints Factories, which contains new production lines, as well as Oryx Academy for Paints and Coating Technology, which is the first academy for training on modern coating and painting methods in Qatar.
In a speech, al-Khulaifi lauded the government for supporting national manufacturers and the private sector in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which attaches special importance on the national industry.
He outlined the objectives of these factories and their role in developing the national industry and enhancing local products. The company has provided a variety of solutions, including decorative paints, industrial and protective coatings, and furniture and wood paints, among others, he also said.
Al-Khulaifi said National Paints Factories Company has obtained a series of ISO certificates, such as ISO 9001/2000 certification; ISO certification for the environmental management system ISO 14001/2004; ISO certification for security and safety 18001: 2008; ISO certificates for the quality management system 9001: 2015; the Environmental Management System 14001: 2015; and the Security and Safety System 45001: 2018.
Due to its extensive experience, al-Kulaifi noted National Paints Factories launched two new brands – Robson Paints and Oryx Paints, and noted that all products, decorative paints, epoxy coatings, industrial floor coatings, and wooden coatings are produced and packed in attractive containers for each of the two brands.
Al-Kulaifi said Royal Cans Factories Company “is the first-of-its-kind in Qatar” for manufacturing metal and plastic cans needed for packing products. He noted that it includes a production line for producing packages of all sizes, according to the needs of other factories in the country.
He said Royal Cans Factories Company includes three other factories – Pure Chem for Solvents and Chemical Factory for manufacturing of white spirit, the Modern Chemical Varnishes Factory for manufacturing of alkyd resin and polyester resin, and the Rimbo Polymers & Chemicals Factory for manufacturing of emulsions and polymers.
