The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) attended the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2021, which was organized by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) and held in a virtual format and in-person at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, China, from February 23-25, 2021, under the theme: “Connected Impact”, and showcased how the entire digital ecosystem continues to transform our lives towards a safer and better world.

 

MWC Shanghai 2021 included multiple sessions related to Fifth Generation technology (5G) Connectivity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Start-up Innovation, with other exciting features like the Digital Leaders Programme and the 5G Innovation Zone which housed 80 exhibitors and provided in-person and virtual attendees with the opportunity to explore the most cutting-edge 5G technology.

 

“MWC Shanghai 2021 is the world’s largest mobile industry gathering, the Congress was an opportunity to meet with innovators, creators, policymakers, and decision-makers in the field of information and communications technology and stay up to date with the latest developments, trends, and international best practices, in addition to industry challenges and opportunities, especially the one related to the next-generation technologies – 5G, Internet of things, AI, and big data, as these technologies are evolving at incredible speed and CRA ensures to keep its relevant regulatory instruments up-to-date to cover the new technologies and radiocommunications applications, which will contribute to a better future,” said Mohammed Ali Al-Mannai, President of CRA.

 

The event also included different forums and seminars; 5G Advanced Summit, 5G Spectrum & Policy Forum, 5G mmWave in Sports Conference. On the sidelines, the GSMA’s Asia Mobile Awards was held and GSMA launched its latest thought leadership reports which highlight remarkable achievements over the last year and provide an outlook for 2021 and beyond.
