A fine art exhibition featuring 22 artworks and 12 sculptures and ceramics by 19 Qatari artists has been inaugurated at Katara's Building 19. Opened by Katara - Cultural Village general manager Prof Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, the exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 10pm until December 31.The participating artists are Tefla al-Kuwari, Suad al-Dosari, Dana al-Abduljabbar, Salem al-Hajri, Mohamed Mansour, Khalifa al-Obaidli, Lina al-Ali, Hessa Kala, Ahmed al-Subaie, Amna al-Badr, Humaid al-Qahtani, Ruqaya al-Mohannadi, Ahmed Haddad, Iman al-Saad, Khalid al-Fahd, Bakhita al-Sada, Haya al-Khuzai, Noura al-Tawar, and Ali al-Kuwari."Katara plays a pioneering role in supporting arts and creativity in Qatar through various initiatives and programmes that encourage creativity and enhance the cultural identity of the society," Prof Dr al-Sulaiti said.The art on display are unique and diverse expressions of Qatar's cultural and historical identity, reflecting the heritage and individual life experiences of the artists. Some of the paintings use cultural symbols to express Qatar's heritage and culture, including Islamic art, traditional clothing, and traditional architectural landmarks, besides the use of light and colours that reflect the natural and architectural beauty of Qatar. The artists employed various techniques, such as oil painting, acrylic, watercolor, and graphic arts.
