Qatar Charity (QC) has handed over the first house this year as part of its ‘Renovation Challenge’ initiative, which aims to repair the homes of low-income families to improve their living conditions.

The handover of the house was made after completing its maintenance and renovation, with the support of benefactors in Qatar.

As part of the initiative, Qatar Charity repairs and furnish the damaged houses of families with low income in co-operation with many companies, youth initiatives and volunteers within the country. It aims to improve the living conditions of low-income families and achieve social solidarity to ensure a dignified life for all members of society, QC has said in a statement.

The recipient of the house expressed delight with the renovation work carried out in the house, thanking the donors and Qatar Charity for extending this significant support.

A house is selected for repair and maintenance work according to some conditions. The house should be owned by the family living in, or the household has been living for a minimum period of 10 years in the rented house. Besides, there are other conditions set by the aid committee of QC.

Qatar Charity emphasises the vital and essential role of companies in this initiative, inviting them to give attractive discounts to participate in the implementation of this initiative to provide a dignified life for families with low income in society.

Since the launch of the initiative in Ramadan 1439/2018, nine homes have been repaired and renovated in co-operation with four companies (Vodafone, Ideal Solutions, Qatar Power Engineering & Contracting and Ansar Gallery), the statement adds.

Besides, five volunteer initiatives (Soul Riders, Jeepers Riders, Wmnahyaha, Qatar Awareness, and Do Good) have participated in the initiative, in addition to 15 volunteers.
