Qatar edge Kyrgyzstan, qualify for Asia-Oceania Group IV semi-finals

The Qatari men’s tennis team has qualified for the semi-finals of the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group IV currently being held in Cambodia after defeating Kyrgyzstan 2-1 on Friday.The Qatari team managed to win the singles and doubles rounds as Rashid Nawaf won the first singles match against Mirgiyaz Mirdzaliev (6-1, 6-7, 6-0).In turn, Mubarak Shanan was able to overcome Ilgiz Kamshebekov in the second singles match (7-6, 6-0), while the duo Ghanem Al Sulaiti and Mashari Nawaf stumbled in the doubles match, after losing to Kirill Kestanovic and Ilgiz Kamshebekov (3-6, 2-6) but in the overall match, the Qatari team won and qualified for the semi-finals with a score of 2-1.According to the tournament system, each team is required to play two singles matches and one doubles match.The Qatari team achieved full points in the group stage by winning its opening match against Sri Lanka, the second match against the UAE, and then winning the third match against Kyrgyzstan.The Qatari team, which is in first place in Group One, will meet Cambodia, which finished in second place in Group Two, in the semi-finals. Kuwaiti will meet Sri Lanka in the second semi-final.It is worth noting that the national team mission includes Musa Shanan, Mubarak Shanan, Ghanem al-Sulaiti, Rashid Nawaf and Mashari Nawaf.Munir al-Araj is the coach of the Qatar team.
