Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has entered into a tripartite agreement with Jordan Red Crescent Society (JRCS) and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), to work together in the fight against coronavirus (Covid-19) in Jordan.
The signing ceremony was attended by a high-profile delegation from QRCS, currently on an official visit to Jordan, comprising secretary-general Ali bin Hassan al-Hammadi, International Relations and International Humanitarian Law (IHL) head Dr Fawzi Oussedik, and IHL co-ordinator Zahra Adnan Lafi, who were accompanied by the head of QRCS’ mission in Jordan, Dr Nehal Said Hefny.
In his remarks, Dr Mohamed Motlak al-Hadid, president of JRCS, highlighted the close co-operation with, and constant support from QRCS through its humanitarian operations in Jordan.
Dr Moftah Tuwailib, director of the IFRC Office in Amman, Jordan, praised the effective joint work with QRCS.
Following the signing ceremony, there was a meeting of the Co-ordinative Committee on Auxiliary Role of National Societies. Dr Oussedik delivered a speech to the members of the committee, in which he emphasised the importance of dialogue with different organisations and concerted efforts to upgrade the National Societies’ auxiliary role to government bodies, especially in times of emergencies.
The session was attended by Dr Mohamed Tarawneh, Judge; Maamoun Tarawneh, head of the Jordanian Committee for IHL, and Dr Omar Saleh al-Akour from School of Law, the University of Jordan.
