Vodafone Qatar showed its support for the Al Noor Institute for the Blind by presenting the institute’s students with assistive braille smartwatches made by Dot Incorporation.

This "pioneering innovation" for the blind and visually impaired instantly translates messages received on the user’s smartphone to braille and forwards it to their watch, Vodafone Qatar said in a statement. This is in addition to a range of practical features needed throughout each day such as time and date, alarm clock and more.

Vodafone Qatar’s chief human resources officer Khames al-Mohamed Naimi said: “We are humbled to partner with Al Noor Institute for the Blind to improve the lives of their students using technology. Vodafone Qatar has always sought to utilise the power of technology in the service of society as part of the company’s expanding corporate social responsibility, and our commitment to achieving inclusivity through technology, especially for people with disabilities."

For his part, Salah Ahmed al-Sindi, head of Activities and Programmes at Al Noor Institute for the Blind, thanked Vodafone for the support provided to the students in an effort to connect with all communities.

To make sure students don’t run out of data on their smartphones, Vodafone Qatar also provided them with complimentary Vodafone Unlimited plans under the company’s 'Vodafone for All' programme.

Launched in 2012 as part of Vodafone Qatar’s ongoing commitment to support the disabled community, 'Vodafone for All' offers specialist services and rates for customers with disabilities, the statement adds.

Customers holding a valid Special Needs Card from the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs are offered a 50% discount on all of Vodafone’s Unlimited 5G postpaid plans and 10% discount on selected handsets equipped with accessibility features and applications.
