The Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) have a strong presence at the ongoing Milipol Qatar 2021, showcasing latest innovations and state-of-the-art equipment.

The exhibition concludes at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre on Wednesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, the MoI said it is participating in the 13th edition of the homeland security and civil defence exhibition with a large pavilion comprising several departments. Displayed are models of modern equipment acquired by some of the departments, while others are showcasing models of services provided to the public and their awareness efforts.

The stall of the the General Directorate of Civil Defence introduces visitors to the necessary procedures for obtaining licences and building certificates as well as how to prevent fires.

Talking about the participation of the MoI's Information Systems Directorate in Milipol 2021, Maj Abdul Aziz al-Ruwaili, assistant director of the Information Systems Department, said they are exhibiting five major projects in their pavilion. These include the maritime registration service, traffic systems on tablets and coastal and border security services on tablets, among others.

The General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security showcases the maritime registration service for marine vessels through Matrash2, which was launched on Monday during the exhibition, while the General Directorate of Traffic displays various types of traffic patrols and latest radars, including dual-side radars.

Menwhile, Lekhwiya is participating in Milipol Qatar 2021 with a large pavilion comprising its various departments and multi-tasking groups and specialisations, including the group meant for the protection of important visiting dignitaries and guests as well as the Search and Rescue Group.

The Lekhwiya pavilion showcases some innovations in security devices that have received international certification. These include an eye detection device to detect stress and anxiety among those carrying contraband as well as detect drug users. It is manufactured in Qatar.

Speaking on the sidelines of the expo, Brig Ibrahim Khalil al-Muhannadi said the participation of Lekhwiya in Milipol comes within the framework of its keenness to participate with its departments and groups, noting that there are multiple specialisations of the force. Participation in this edition of the exhibition includes some security innovations developed by Lekhwiya, which have obtained international certification, he added.

He also informed that among the groups participating in Milipol 2021 is one called Lafdaviyya, which exhibits advanced devices and weapons, in addition to the anti-riot force with its advanced equipment and mechanisms.

Also, the Personal Protection Force, forces dealing with communication and removal of explosives are also participating from Lekhwiya. "Through our participation in this edition, we aim to showcase the latest technologies and devices we own, whether for the mechanisms or weapons used in our force," Brig al-Muhannadi said.

Lt-Col Dr Ali al-Rashed, Commander of Security Technologies at Lekhwiya, reviewed the most important developments, especially the "pride of the Qatari industry", which is the eye detection device that detects tension and anxiety among those carrying contraband or drug users, as well as determining the type of narcotic substance used.

He said the device is 100% Qatari-owned and manufactured, adding also used are many other devices that have been developed by Lekhwiya in co-operation with its strategic partners.

"In this edition, we are also exhibiting a mobile detection vehicle that detects prohibited items carried on different vehicles. It can inspect other vehicles thoroughly, from the bottom, and determine the load. It is also equipped with an automatic analysis system to determine the type of prohibited material carried by a vehicle," Lt-Col Dr al-Rashed added.

The Lekhwiya pavilion at Milipol Qatar also displays defence and attack robots, Qatar News Agency added. The defence robot is equipped with a bulletproof shield to protect the team, while the attack robot performs operations such as storming and firing automatically.
