Qatar Scientific Club concluded its Virtual Innovation Lab programme for students during the second semester mid-term holiday for public schools.
The programme included three age groups starting from seven to 25 years. Each group has what suits it in terms of scientific activities and projects.
In the seven to ten age group, the participants received scientific topics on space sciences, astronomy, telescopes, and microscopes, as well as meaningful scientific experiments.
The programme resulted in the implementation of the smart traffic signal project.
The participants also learned about the objectives of the awareness programme and the importance of the economy and the rationalisation of the use of electricity and water in a simple interactive manner, which was presented by the Qatar Electricity and Water Corp.
As for the 11 to 15 years old group, the participants got to know the 3D engineering design and manufacturing laboratory in addition to their success in programming the smartwatch, while the older age group dealt with topics appropriate to their age and knowledge, including topics related to telecommunications engineering technology, and they also succeeded in assembling and programming the smart watch.
The Director of the Promising Innovator Center Fatima al-Mohannadi said that the programme had very large turnout in registration that exceeded five times the required number, as the number of registrants reached 510, while the capacity of the program is only 50, calling upon those who were unable to participate in the program to follow the club's social media platforms and speed their response to register in similar events, and that there are a number of events that will be announced soon, and the club is currently preparing to launch the summer camp, which is characterised by its ability to accommodate larger numbers of participants.
Regarding the organisation and management of the programme, al-Mohannadi said that the program has been managed by Qatari youth who are distinguished members of the club, in addition to a qualified technical cadre of the engineers of the Qatar Scientific Club. (QNA)
