Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas has announced the appointment of Etienne-Charles Gailliez as the new general manager of its resort.

He will take up this role in addition to his existing role as country general manager for Qatar. Prior to his appointment as general manager, Etienne played a key role in the pre-opening of the resort, a unique project by Katara Hospitality.

Etienne will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the 361-room resort, which includes guest rooms and suites, beach villas, an Arabian Village, more than 20 restaurant offerings, a marina, luxury spa, sports academy and over 12,900sq ft of flexible meeting space.

He has over 30 years of experience in international hotel management and has worked at Hilton for over 25 years. He began his career in food and beverage and has taken on several leadership roles within Hilton across North and Central Africa and Egypt. Prior to his role as country general manager for Qatar, Etienne was country general manager, Nigeria. He has also held general manager roles at Transcorp Hilton Abuja and Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa.

Etienne holds a degree in Hotel Management from Belgian University and furthered his education at IMD Switzerland and Cornell University. In 2014, he was named the winner of Hilton’s Middle East and Africa President’s Award for exceeding expectations on performance and guest satisfaction.
