The Cabinet has decided to stop the provision of medical services in private health facilities, except for emergency cases, from Friday (April 2).

The private health facilities will be allowed to provide some of their medical services, if possible, through modern means of communication, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported on Wednesday.

The decision came at the Cabinet's regular meeting on Wednesday, chaired by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani via videoconference.

Following the meeting, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa bin Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi issued a statement giving the details of the proceedings.

At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet listened to the explanation provided by HE the Minister of Public Health on the latest developments and steps taken to limit the spread of Covid-19. It affirmed the continue implementation of precautionary measures in order to combat the pandemic.

The meeting approved the Cabinet's draft decision to reconstitute the Lawyers Admission Committee, and also gave its nod to the draft decision of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications to establish sections in the administrative units of the general authority for civil aviation and define their functions.

Further, it approved a draft agreement between the governments of Qatar and Bangladesh regarding the elimination of double taxation in relation to income taxes, prevention of evasion and tax avoidance; a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) on conducting political consultations on issues of common interest between Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Rwanda's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation; and a draft MoU on energy co-operation between Qatar Petroleum and the Ministry of Energy in Ukraine.

The Cabinet reviewed the results of the extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Health Ministers in the GCC states and took the appropriate decision in this regard.
