The Operations Department at the General Directorate of Civil Defence carried out a mock evacuation at the Ministry of Culture and Sports (MCS) building in the Dafna area on Wednesday.
The drill was carried out to train the MCS employees on evacuation operations and within the framework of the department's efforts to implement its awareness plans for various governmental and non-governmental institutions, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a tweet.
Educating the public about safety measures, training employees on dealing with fire and other types of accidents, and confirming the department's staff's readiness to do the assigned works were also objectives of this exercise, the MoI added. The evacuation scenario began with the sounding of the alarm bell in the building, and the matter being reported to the Civil Defence.
A firefighting and rescue team immediately moved from the Wadi Al-Sail Civil Defence Centre. Those working in the building were evacuated and brought to safe assembly points. The Establishments and Authorities Security Department, Rescue Police Department (Al-Fazaa) and the Ambulance Service at Hamad Medical Corporation participated in the mock drill.
