Qatar Charity launched its Ramadan of Hope campaign for the current year 1442 AH 2021 AD, which will be implemented in 33 countries (Qatar and 32 countries around the world). The cost is expected to reach about QR168mn, and the number of those targeted are estimated to be 2.2mn. The campaign will depend on the donations of charitable people in Qatar and their support.
Given that Ramadan is coming while the world is still facing Covid-19 pandemic, Qatar Charity has affirmed its keenness to take precautionary measures in the seasonal projects that it will implement within the framework of the campaign and to maintain the requirements of public safety. The drive will focus on distributing food and meals individually for the beneficiaries, using cars designated for this purpose, and it has also made it easier for donors to donate their zakat and charity through its application, website, developed services, and other various digital tools.
The Ramadan campaign includes main seasonal projects: Iftar for the fasting persons, food baskets and meals, the distribution of Zakat Al Fitr, and Eid clothing inside and outside Qatar.
This came in the official press conference held to launch the Ramadan of Hope campaign. The conference was attended by CEO's assistant for the Programme and Community Development Sector of Qatar Charity, Faisal bin Rashid al-Fuhaida, Director of the Emergency and Relief Department at Qatar Charity Ahmed al-Rumaihi, Director of the Customer Service Department at Qatar Charity Abdulaziz Jassim Hajji and Director of the Media and Communication Department Ahmed Saleh al-Ali.
The Ramadan of Hope campaign inside Qatar is looking forward to reach out and help about 600,000 people, including debtors, low-income families, workers and members of the community, at an estimated cost of QR111mn. Qatar Charity has been keen to seek the assistance of a number of Qatari families to provide ready meals to families with limited income (within the framework of a home-to-home project) in co-ordination with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs.
Furthermore, the Ramadan of Hope campaign includes a number of projects, Zakat Al Fitr, which is intended to support families with limited income, Eid clothing project, which is dedicated to the children of families with limited income and Orphans Eid gift, which is a sum of money provided to orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity, to make them feel the joy of the holiday. The campaign also included aid inside Qatar directed to persons and their families to help them overcome debt problems and maintain family cohesion, and for families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ramadan projects outside Qatar are carried out by Qatar Charity through its field offices and local partners. The implementation of Ramadan projects are Iftar for the fasting person, the distribution of Zakat Al Fitr and Eid clothing, in 32 countries. It also intends to provide food aid to the displaced, refugees and the needy in crisis and disaster areas and aims to reach out to 6mn people at a cost expected to reach QR 56.7mn.
The campaign also includes the fasting breakfast (iftar) project. It will be implemented this year in two types. The first is food baskets that contain basic food supplies that are sufficient for the family for a whole month, and help them to prepare their own breakfast tables, and the other is ready-made breakfast meals. The campaign also includes the Eid clothing project dedicated to orphan children, to make them feel the joy of Eid. The Ramadan of Hope campaign also includes media programmes, where Qatar Charity has produced a number of television and radio programmes and a number of programmes on its YouTube channel.
