The US embassy and Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) will host the EducationUSA-Qatar 2021 Virtual University Fair, set to take place during the Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture.

The virtual fair will be held on April 6 and 7, from 4pm to 8pm each day. It will provide a unique opportunity for high school and graduate students in Qatar to interact directly with university representatives from over 50 US colleges and universities, according to a joint press statement by the embassy and MoEHE.

Participants will gain valuable information about academic programmes, tuition costs, campus life, financial aid options, application procedures and safety precautions in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This virtual fair makes it easy to learn about the advantages of studying in the US and to meet with EducationUSA advisers about future college needs, the statement notes.

Chargé d’Affaires of the US embassy, ambassador Greta Holtz, highlights that studying in US higher education institutions offers a range of opportunities for students in Qatar, including "state-of-the-art campuses using the latest technology, leading experts serving as professors and instructors, unparalleled access to advisers and career services, an array of extracurricular and student activities, and so much more".

Ministry of Education and Higher Education acting assistant undersecretary for Higher Education, Dr Khalid al-Ali, notes that partnering with the US embassy in Qatar during the Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture "strengthens our broad and enduring partnership with the United States and opens doors of opportunity for Qatari students to pursue higher education in some of the world’s most prestigious universities and colleges".
