The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on Monday announced the list of discounted consumer goods for Ramadan this year, which includes more than 650 products.
The list, released in co-operation with major retail outlets, came into effect yesterday and will remain applicable until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The initiative comes within the framework of the ministry's efforts over the past years to meet citizens' and residents' need for consumer goods at reduced prices during the holy month.
This year's list includes all essential consumer goods needed during Ramadan, such as flour, sugar, rice, macaroni, rice, oil, milk, chicken and other food and non-food items whose consumption increases during the holy month.
The list of discounted consumer goods has been circulated to all major retail outlets in the country and is accessible to consumers through the MoCI website and social media pages.
The full list is available at 2u.pw/KywWc
The ministry has also indicated that in order to make it easier for consumers to access the discounted goods, posters have been designed to be placed on store shelves to show the prices of Qatari and imported products.
The MoCI has called for adherence to the set prices until the end of the holy month of Ramadan, stressing that it will intensify its inspection campaigns to detect violations and refer the offenders to the competent authorities for appropriate measures in order to protect the rights of consumers.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has urged consumers to report any price violations by contacting the call centre at 16001, or by using the MoCI social media accounts.
