Qatar Charity (QC) has recently signed two cooperation protocols in the health and education sectors with the Turkish ?anl?urfa Province to improve the living conditions and quality of life of the Syrian refugees in the province.
This came during a visit paid by CEO's assistant for International Operations and Programs at Qatar Charity, Mr. Nawaf al-Hammadi, to Turkey.
The two protocols were signed by Mr. Abdullah Erin, the governor of ?anl?urfa Province, and Mr. Nawaf al-Hammadi, CEO's assistant for International Operations and Programs at Qatar Charity, in the presence of many officials, in addition to the director of Qatar Charity’s Turkey office Mr. Muhammad Wahi.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Abdullah Erin, the governor of ?anl?urfa Province, emphasized the importance of this cooperation for the benefit of the Syrian refugees in the province. He thanked the generous Qatari people and Qatar Charity for their benevolent efforts.
He indicated that the province oversees the restoration and rehabilitation of health and educational buildings carried out by charitable organizations in the region of Operation Peace Spring. He noted that the province has received nearly 450,000 Syrians (out of approximately 3.6 million in Turkey) in 10 years, who fled their country following the onset of the crisis in 2011.
He underlined that the province is working hard to deliver services and aid to all Syrians living in it, in addition to the efforts made to provide security, health and education services to nearly 250,000 Syrians in the region of Operation Peace Spring. He stated that nearly 350 schools in the region of Operation Peace Spring need rehabilitation and restoration.
Mr. Nawaf al-Hammadi, CEO's assistant for International Operations and Programs at Qatar Charity, thanked the governor for the warm welcome and the support extended by the province for the projects implemented by Qatar Charity
‘We thank the Turkish people for welcoming Syrian brothers,’ said al-Hammadi, adding that ‘The aid that we provide is a humanitarian duty towards our Syrian brothers.’
Al-Hammadi mentioned that Qatar Charity has implemented many projects for the benefit of the Syrians since the eruption of the Syrian crisis. He pointed out that Qatar Charity continues its efforts to provide support to internally displaced people in Syria, and refugees in neighboring countries, noting that these two protocols fall under this framework.
According to the first protocol, a health center will be established and operated in Suluk, a town in Syria which is close to the border with Turkey, in addition to other various projects supported by Qatar Charity in the region of Operation Peace Spring. These projects are implemented in cooperation with the ?anl?urfa Province, in addition to an educational center for training nurses and midwives.
The second protocol included several educational projects that Qatar Charity is working on to serve refugees and Turkish citizens in the state. Qatar Charity will construct an educational complex consisting of 24 classrooms (equivalent to 3 schools). This protocol is an extension of several activities that Qatar Charity carries out in the province by rehabilitating two schools.
It is worth mentioning that Mr. Nawaf Al-Hammadi visited several Turkish provinces to strengthen Qatar Charity's role in both Turkey and Syria, to support the displaced and refugees and enable them to integrate into the host societies.
